Guidebooks and other references:
Guidebooks include the usual publishers, such as Lonely Planet , Rough Guides, Frommer's, and the like. Check the publishing date, because many publishers go years between editions. The Fodor's guide is updated annually, and Moon Handbooks Belize was updated in 2007. Both are written by authors who know the country well and have covered it for years, so either is a good bet.
Understanding Belize: A Historical Guide and Belize: A Concise History are good for those who want deeper understanding of the country's history.
Several guides to diving and snorkeling in Belize come out on sporadic schedules. Again, check the publication date.
